The World Association for Vedic Studies was incorporated by Professor Bhu Dev Sharma in the state of Louisiana on January 23, 1997. The Internal Revenue Service of USA determined through their letter of August 13, 1998, that WAVES is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c)(3). Society has the assigned Employer Identification Number 72-1350935.
